Hyderabad, August 24: Cyberabad Police and Veterinary Department officials conducted raids on Monday and seized 100 tonnes of chicken waste that a mafia network was illegally selling to fish pond owners in Andhra Pradesh.
According to officials, the network dumped chicken waste on lorries at night and transported it to fish pond owners in Andhra Pradesh. Police identified that this operation runs during night hours to avoid detection. Furthermore, authorities confirmed that the mafia sold these waste materials to fish farm owners for profit, without any regard for public health consequences.
Additionally, officials conducted raids at Attapur, Miyapur, Ameenpur, Kukatpally, Jeedimetla, and Chinthal. Teams intercepted lorries loaded with chicken waste at these six locations. Consequently, authorities seized all 100 tonnes on the spot and took action against those involved in the illegal trade.

Moreover, this is not the first enforcement action against this network.
HFAST officials seized 100 tonnes of chicken waste in the previous month itself.
However, the mafia continued its operations despite those seizures and prior cases. Officials noted that the network showed no concern for earlier FIRs and resumed the same illegal trade immediately after each crackdown.
Furthermore, the repeated nature of the offence points to a well-organised and persistent illegal operation.
Police said the network earns significant profits by selling waste material to fish farmers, who use it as cheap feed. As a result, fish grown in these ponds reach the market carrying health risks that consumers are unaware of.
Meanwhile, authorities have taken fresh legal action following Monday’s raids.
Further investigation is underway to identify all persons involved in the supply chain. Officials said they will continue to monitor and act against chicken waste dumping and illegal fish feed trade across Hyderabad and surrounding areas. (Maxim News)
