Hyderabad, August 24: A Hyderabad student, identified as Sai Pradeep, allegedly died by suicide in the United States after struggling to find a job.
Pradeep travelled to the US in 2024 for higher studies. He recently completed his master’s degree at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
According to reports, he had been searching for employment for around four months. He allegedly died by suicide on August 21.
Hyderabad Student’s Job Search In US
Reports said Pradeep became distressed during his prolonged job search. Further details about the incident are awaited.
The incident has renewed concerns about employment challenges faced by international students after completing their studies in the US.
In July last year, Hyderabad student Vaibhav Duggal died by suicide in Texas following an academic disciplinary action.
His family and advocates later alleged that the disciplinary process lacked adequate due process and mental health support.
Earlier this year, Andhra Pradesh student Iraganaboyina Chandu also allegedly died by suicide in the US.
Chandu, 26, had completed his master’s degree in Chicago and was reportedly searching for employment.
The cases have highlighted concerns among Indian students about securing jobs after completing higher education in the US.
