Delhi liquor scam: ED conducts raids at 30 locations all over country

Hyderabad, Sept.6 (NSS): In connection with the Delhi liquor scam, sleuths of the Enforcement Directorate conducted search operations in Hyderabad on Tuesday. As part of its ongoing probe into the scam, the ED resumed raids at multiple locations across the country. They are tightening grip around those who are said to have close links with the TRS leaders.

The raids were being conducted at over 30 locations. “We are conducting raids in Lucknow, Gurugaon, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and other locations. The searches started early Tuesday morning,” they said. The ED case is based on the FIR of the CBI, which alleged that liquor businessmen were given exemption of Rs 30 crore in violation of the Excise Rules. The ED also said Delhi deputy chief minister Sisodia and a few liquor barons were allegedly involved in diverting the undue pecuniary advantage collected from liquor licensees to public servants, who have been accused in the case.

In Hyderabad, the ED officials have begun conducting search operations in six locations, including the residence of Arun Ramachandra Pillai at Kokapet, whose name had surfaced during the last raids, that led to the allegations that he had links with TRS legislator and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha. The other names in whose houses and offices where the ED was conducting searches include: Boinpalli Abhishek Rao, Sudini Srujan Reddy and Gandra Premsagar Rao, who have links with the TRS.

The ED raided the head office of Robin Distilleries Private Ltd, at Nanakramguda in Hyderabad, in which Arun Ramachandra Pillai and Premsagar Rao are said to be directors. Raids are also being conducted at Rajendranagar. There are allegations that Sudini Srujan Reddy was a business partner of Kavitha, who had floated a company called Adicore Infrastructure Private Limited in February 2010. He also has another company by name Deepak Infratech Private Limited, which is doing works in Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation scheme.

Interestingly, Srujan happens to be a nephew of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader late S Jaipal Reddy, who is closely related to Telangana PCC president A Revanth Reddy. (NSS)
