Hyderabad, July 23: The Delhi Police on Thursday alleged that anti social elements had infiltrated the ongoing student protests at Jantar Mantar, claiming that some individuals were attempting to turn peaceful demonstrations violent.
Police said additional security personnel had been deployed to maintain law and order.
Delhi Police Increase Security at Protest Site
According to police officials, the protests remain peaceful during the day, with participants engaging in activities such as slogan raising and poetry readings.
However, they alleged that as crowds grow larger in the evening, some unidentified individuals begin throwing stones and water bottles at police personnel, leading to tensions.
Police sources said additional paramilitary forces have been deployed at Jantar Mantar to prevent any escalation and ensure public safety.
Officials also said the Central Government had directed security agencies to handle the situation with restraint, considering the sensitivity of the student protests.
According to the police, personnel have been instructed to prioritise maintaining law and order and avoid excessive force while dealing with protesters.
The allegations made by the Delhi Police have not been independently verified.
