Hyderabad, July 23: Telangana Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Thursday directed government officials to remain accessible to the public at the field level and intensify outreach in rural areas amid concerns over a significant rainfall deficit.
The Minister reviewed the situation with district officials at the IOC office in Husnabad, Siddipet district.

The review meeting was attended by Collectors and officials from Siddipet, Karimnagar and Hanamkonda districts, along with officials from the seven mandals of the Husnabad Assembly constituency.
Ponnam Prabhakar said the State was facing severe rainfall deficit conditions and asked officials to implement government programmes effectively without any pressure or inconvenience to the public.
He cautioned that water scarcity could worsen if rainfall remains below normal and urged officials to create awareness among farmers on managing the situation.
The Minister advised farmers to cultivate crops that require less water in view of the prevailing drought-like conditions. He also called for measures to prevent fodder shortages for livestock.
Highlighting the decline in groundwater levels, Ponnam Prabhakar directed officials to take steps to improve groundwater recharge. He suggested constructing soak pits under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and stressed the need to conserve every drop of rainwater.
