The dense fog led to heavy traffic congestion on national highways and caused major disruptions at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad.

Airport authorities said visibility dropped sharply due to persistent fog, impacting flight operations. As a result, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation issued Fog Season Alerts at the airport. Officials confirmed that the DGCA fog advisories will remain in force until February 10.

Due to poor visibility, several arriving and departing flights faced delays. Authorities diverted at least 18 domestic and international flights to alternate airports as a safety measure. Airport officials said operations continue under low visibility procedures to ensure passenger safety.

Officials said dense fog conditions disrupted flight schedules throughout the early morning hours. Therefore, airlines activated standard fog protocols, including revised landing and takeoff procedures. Air traffic controllers coordinated closely with pilots to manage congestion in airspace.

Meanwhile, road users faced similar challenges as fog reduced visibility on major highways. Consequently, traffic slowed considerably, leading to long vehicle queues at several stretches.

Police advised motorists to drive cautiously and avoid high speeds during early morning and late night hours.

Weather officials said winter fog is common during this period due to low night temperatures and high moisture levels.

However, they warned that fog intensity may increase over the next few days. Authorities urged commuters and travelers to check updates before starting journeys.

The Telangana government said it remains in coordination with aviation and traffic authorities to manage disruptions caused by dense fog across the state.
