Hyderabad, August 5: Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand on Wednesday said Dial 112 calls cannot be rejected under any circumstances and stressed that the emergency response system provides support for police, medical, legal and cyber emergencies.
Speaking at an event in Hyderabad, the DGP said the Telangana Police are strengthening Dial 112 with advanced technology to improve emergency response and public safety.
Dial 112 to Get Advanced Technology
CV Anand said the police are using Advanced Location Services (ALS) to accurately identify callers’ locations when Dial 112 receives emergency calls. He added that the department will soon introduce a drone based technical system and establish a dedicated drone team to enhance emergency operations.
He said Dial 112 will soon be upgraded to Version 3.0. According to him, young Assistant Public Prosecutors and technology professionals using Artificial Intelligence will contribute to the initiative.
The DGP said Telangana Police are implementing technology driven policing alongside traditional policing. He added that two floors in Tower B of the Integrated Command and Control Centre have been allocated exclusively for Dial 112 operations.
Providing background, Anand said the Dial 100 emergency service began at Kompally in 2013 with support from GVK. He noted that the Central government later proposed a single emergency number for multiple services. Since the formation of Telangana, the police department has continued upgrading its technology infrastructure. He also said Artificial Intelligence has recently made several policing functions faster and more efficient.
