The police stated that 438 two-wheeler riders, 45 three-wheeler riders and 69 four-wheeler drivers were caught for drunk driving. They noted that the number reflects a continued rise in weekend violations. Meanwhile, teams monitored movement at key points to prevent accidents caused by intoxicated driving. They also said that such drives help reduce road hazards, especially during late-night hours.

Officials reported that ten people recorded BAC levels above 300 mg/100 ml. They also found that eight more individuals recorded BAC levels between 251 mg/100 ml and 300 mg/100 ml. These levels, they explained, show severe intoxication and pose a serious threat to public safety. Therefore, police teams detained all such offenders for legal action. They added that every person caught must appear before a court for the next stage of proceedings.

The traffic police said, “there will be zero tolerance on drunk and drive violations.” They added that they will continue special checks to ensure safer roads. Meanwhile, they plan to maintain high alert during weekends when violations usually increase. They also urged motorists to avoid driving after drinking and follow traffic laws to prevent severe penalties.

Later, officials said the special drive will remain active at various junctions. They also plan to use more teams in coming weeks to strengthen enforcement. The aim, they said, is to reduce accidents linked to intoxicated driving and ensure public safety across the city.
