Hyderabad, July 27: A woman from the Netherlands has filed a sexual harassment complaint with the Gachibowli police, alleging that her boyfriend’s roommate repeatedly harassed her during her visit to Hyderabad earlier this year.
According to the complaint, the woman travelled to Hyderabad in March to visit her boyfriend, who lives in Kondapur.
She alleged that her boyfriend’s roommate repeatedly stalked her, stared at her inappropriately, attempted to touch her without consent and behaved in an objectionable manner inside the apartment, causing her severe distress.
The woman approached the Gachibowli police earlier this month, following which a case was registered under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deals with sexual harassment.
Police confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint and that an investigation is underway.
Officials said the accused also allegedly verbally harassed the complainant. His identity has not been disclosed as efforts are underway to trace him.
According to the police, the suspect is currently absconding and his mobile phone has been switched off. Teams are working to locate and apprehend him.
