Hyderabad, May 1 (Maxim News): Farmers were in deep grief as their crops were burnt to ashes in many parts of the state due to an electrical short circuit explosion . Similar tragedies took place in Pembi mandal center of Nirmal district. A short circuit caused by hanging electric wires and set fire to about 10 acres of corn crop belonging to Gosukula Ramulu and Kanne Mallesh . After receiving information, the fire brigade personnel reached the spot and controlled the fire from spreading further, but the entire crop had already been burnt. The scenes of the farmers crying heartbreakingly as the crop they had raised like children was burning in front of their eyes are disturbing to the viewers.
Similarly, the maize crop cultivated on four acres by Uppari Venkatesh ( former) in Lakkireddipalli village of Vaddepalle mandal was completely burnt down in an electrical accident on Wednesday. The farmer, who had not even received any capital, is crying and begging the government to help him as his crop, which he had cultivated on loans, was burnt down before it could be harvested.
In Nirmal district, not only maize but also rice and sorghum crops have suffered huge losses due to similar power outages. Farmers are complaining that these accidents are happening due to poor maintenance of power lines and that their livelihoods have been ruined as crops ready for harvest have been damaged. Local people are demanding that the government should take responsibility for helping these poor farmers who have lost all their hopes and are in tears.
Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy immediately responded to these tragic incidents. As soon as he received information about the loss faced by farmers in Pembi mandal of Nirmal district, he reviewed with the officials. He instructed the CMO officials and the District Collector to immediately collect the details of the affected farmers and provide them with adequate financial assistance. As per the Chief Minister’s orders, the officials assessed the loss at the field level and took steps to provide reassurance to the farmers. (Maxim News)
