Hyderabad, Sept. 17: A farmer and his teenage daughter died in a suspected suicide attempt in Khammam district. His 10 year old son remains critical.
The incident occurred in Gandrai village of NTR district in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Pusuluri Srinivasa Rao, 44, and his daughter Lasya, 14. Srinivasa Rao was from Appala Narasimhapuram village in Nelakondapally mandal.
Srinivasa Rao was cultivating leased agricultural land in Gandrai village. He had reportedly taken his two children to the farm before the incident.
Khammam Family Tragedy Leaves Son Critical
According to police, Srinivasa Rao later informed his brother in law that he had consumed poison.
He then switched off his phone, prompting relatives and villagers to begin searching for the family.
Police and local residents eventually traced the three and shifted them to a private hospital in Khammam.
Srinivasa Rao died shortly after being admitted to the hospital. His daughter Lasya also died despite medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Nikhil’s condition deteriorated, and doctors shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Police have begun investigating the incident and are seeking to determine what led to Srinivasa Rao’s actions.
The reason behind the suspected suicide attempt remains unclear.
The incident has caused grief in Appala Narasimhapuram village.
