Speaking in the Assembly, the minister also criticised the rice scam that took place during the previous BRS government. He said all irregularities from that period should be investigated. Therefore, he stressed the need for accountability while focusing on current policies.

Fine Rice Bonus plan backed by record procurement and exports

The minister explained the government’s approach towards farmers and procurement. He said, “Ours is a pro-farmer government. We have collected a record amount of rice from farmers. We have purchased 72 lakh tones of paddy and paid in cash. We will also buy the remaining rice. We will buy every grain in this Rabi season too. Telangana is the first state to export rice to the Philippines. We have a stock of 86 lakh tones. We are taking steps to send it. We have sold the rice at a good price. There is more demand for our Sona. Mussoorie and Basmati rice than Chhattisgarh and AP rice. Whether the Centre gives funds or not, we are buying the rice.”

The minister further highlighted the growing demand for Telangana rice varieties. He noted that Sona, Mussoorie, and Basmati rice have strong demand compared to rice from other states. Therefore, the government is focusing on expanding exports and maintaining good prices.
