- Fire in Old City damages household items in Mirchowk
- Families rush out as blaze erupts at Magar Bowli building
A fire in Old City damaged several household items after a blaze broke out inside a residential building at Mirchowk on Friday night. The incident caused panic among the residents as the fire spread through a flat located on the first floor of the structure.
The fire started around midnight at the Magar Bowli area. Residents noticed the flames and smoke coming from the flat and rushed out of the building to save themselves. The quick reaction of the families helped avoid any injuries, as everyone moved out before the fire intensified. The sudden blaze created fear in the locality, and many people gathered outside as the fire grew.
Fire tenders from Moghalpura and nearby fire stations reached the spot within minutes. The teams worked continuously and brought the flames under control. It took them nearly an hour to douse the fire completely. Officials also checked the building to ensure that no part of the structure posed further danger to the residents. Their swift response helped prevent the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.
Officials suspect that the fire might have started due to a short circuit. However, the exact cause is yet to be confirmed. The incident left the affected family with damaged household articles, and residents of the area expressed relief that there were no injuries. The fire department advised residents to remain alert and check electrical lines regularly to avoid similar incidents.
The fire in Old City once again raised concerns about electrical safety in older residential zones. Residents said such incidents highlight the need for regular inspections. Meanwhile, authorities will continue the investigation to determine the exact reason behind the fire.
