Four cricket betting organizers arrested
Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force today arrested four cricket betting organizers — Yogesh Joshi, Kamalesh Jain, Dhruvit Patel and Md.Azhar Khan — while they were accepting cricket betting amounts in the limits of Begumpet PS limits from the known and unknown punters directly and indirectly over cell phones for the ongoing IPL Match between Hyderabad Sun Risers Vs Kolkata Knight Riders teams playing in Bangalore. They also seized one Laptop, one LG TV, one Hathway set top Box, two Remotes, one calculator, one diary and two notebooks, 14 Cell phones and cash of Rs 61,400.
The accused were identified as Yogesh Joshi, 29, of MES Colony, Alwal, Kamalesh Jain of Venkata Ramana colony, Sikh Village, Dhruvit Patel, 27, student of Mamatha Apartments, Tadbund, Bowenpally, Md Azhar Khan, 30, of Prakash Nagar, Begumpet, Secunderabad.
Police said today the accused were organizing Cricket betting in Qrt.No.SRT.82, Near Hanuman Temple, Prakash Nagar, Begumpet, for the ongoing IPL Match between Hyderabad Sun Risers and Kolkata Knight Riders teams playing in Bangalore, Police apprehended them.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of B. Limba Reddy, Dy.Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, by S. Srinivasa Rao, Inspector of Police, Central Zone Team with the assistance of SIs G.Thimmappa, B. Kantha Reddy and the staff of Central Zone Team, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad.
