General Dhiraj Seth Takes Charge As New Army Chief

New Delhi, July 1: General Dhiraj Seth took charge as the 31st Chief of the Indian Army on Wednesday and succeeded General Upendra Dwivedi after his retirement. He said he would lead the Army with the ideals of duty, honour and country first.

After assuming office, General Dhiraj Seth laid a wreath at the National War Memorial and paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation.

General Dhiraj Seth Sets Vijay Priorities

Later, Seth received a guard of honour at South Block. During the ceremony, he saluted his father, retired Lieutenant General KM Seth, while his brother Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth saluted him.

Speaking on the occasion, General Seth said his leadership would follow the motto “Vijay”. He identified five priorities which include continuous border surveillance, innovation, coordination with the Air Force and Navy, self reliance and welfare of soldiers.

Moreover, Seth thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for placing trust in him to lead the Indian Army.

He assured the nation that the Army remains prepared to safeguard India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He added that the Prime Minister’s “JAI” vision, which stands for Jointness, Self Reliance and Innovation, forms the foundation of his Vijay priorities and will guide the Army towards victory.
