Hyderabad: The government has decided to use non tearable paper for the cover pages of textbooks for students from class one to intermediate. From the next academic year, the cover pages of these textbooks will not tear easily. Officials took this decision after the government instructed the education department to improve the quality of textbooks. According to the details, the concerned departments issued orders to the Government Textbook Department, which prints textbooks for classes one to ten, and the Telugu Academy, which prints intermediate textbooks. CM Revanth Reddy had earlier directed education officials to ensure that all textbooks are printed on quality paper. Therefore, the department decided to shift to non tearable paper for the covers.

Officials also decided to continue printing QR codes in intermediate textbooks this year, similar to textbooks for classes one to ten. Students can scan these QR codes using smartphones to access videos and text that offer additional information. Meanwhile, the Telugu Academy requires 1500 tons of paper for textbook printing. Officials said that 900 tons are ready now. They expect to collect the remaining 600 tons through the State Trade Promotion Corporation. However, publishers said that tenders should be issued when new policies are introduced. They fear that the supply may be delayed if tenders are not released on time.

The report explains that non tearable paper, also called NTR, is a tear resistant, durable and water resistant paper made from synthetic materials. It is commonly used for printing certificates, photo albums, labels, cards and promotional items. Its durability makes it a strong alternative to traditional paper. Synthetic paper offers better resilience and can withstand harsh conditions. It is created with polymer resins and additives, which give it strength, water resistance and chemical resistance. Therefore, synthetic paper is seen as a modern solution for industries that require long lasting printed material.
