Hyderabad, June 22: Senior BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao questioned the circumstances surrounding the death of Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Transport Officer (DTO) Venkanna, who died after being hit by a coal tipper lorry during vehicle inspection duty.
Harish Rao Seeks Probe Into DTO Venkanna Death
Reacting to the incident, Harish Rao said the government has a responsibility to establish the facts behind the accident and ensure transparency in the investigation.
He raised concerns over alleged illegal transport operations and questioned whether officials attempting to perform their duties were facing threats from unlawful business networks.
Harish Rao demanded that authorities identify those involved in any illegal activities, if such links exist, and place all findings before the public.
He called for a thorough investigation into the incident and urged the government to ensure accountability and take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
According to earlier reports, the incident occurred on Monday morning during a vehicle inspection drive near the RDO office on the outskirts of Chelpur in Ganapuram mandal of Bhupalpally district.
DTO Venkanna was reportedly struck by a speeding coal tipper lorry while carrying out official duties and succumbed to injuries at the scene.
Police have taken the driver into custody and the investigation is continuing.
No official conclusion has been announced regarding the cause or circumstances of the incident so far.
