Health Minister Slams Govt Over Remdesivir Supply
State Health Minister Eatala Rajender today slammed the central government for supplying less number of crucial Remdesivir Injections.
Hyderabad, April 22 (Maxim News): State Health Minister Eatala Rajender today slammed the central government for supplying less number of crucial Remdesivir Injections. He said that it was surprising that the center willing to supply only 21,551 injections of the important drug instead of 4 lakh sought by the state government. He said that they were expressing their protest on the issue and asked that it was unfortunate that the center had kept its control over the Remdesivir injections like it in the same manner as the Covid 19 vaccines.
Speaking to media persons in the city, he said that he spoke to Union Health Minister Harshavardhan on the issue and added that he told the minister that patients from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Chattisgarh AP were also being treated in the city. He urged the Central Government to sanction the Remdesivir injections produced in the state to Telangana. Commenting on the oxygen requirements of the state, he said that the state need 384 tonnes of oxygen every day and added that they were getting 260 to 270 tonnes of the oxygen every day.
He made it clear that the center should take responsibility if the state faced any kind of oxygen shortage. He said that the state was allocated 30 tonnes of the oxygen from Tamil Nadu but added that Tamil Nadu was not willing to supply to oxygen to the state.
We have adequate supply of oxygen, beds, medicines, doctors , health staff and facilities in all hospitals. The government hospitals are capable to offer 10 lakh doses a day. We have medical oxygen, beds and facilities to cater to needs of Corona cases he claimed.
The people have to follow Corona protocols and remain cautious. The vaccine will be given to those 45 years and above as per norms and to 60 years above. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has alerted us to take more steps to get more jabs for vaccination.
We have instructed the officials of the health wing to coordinate and increase testing and inoculation to prevent virus spread. He asked the people to avoid fear as wearing masks, sanitisation of the hands is to be followed besides maintaining social distance. (Maxim News)
