Hyderabad, April 14: A severe heatwave is gripping parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, with temperatures rising sharply. Authorities have urged people to take precautions as the heat intensity is expected to increase further.
Several regions recorded very high temperatures. Nizamabad reported 42.4°C, making it one of the hottest places. Meanwhile, Kadapa recorded 44.4°C, reflecting severe conditions.
Heatwave Alert in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Intensifies
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority and India Meteorological Department warned that temperatures may rise further. Therefore, they advised residents to avoid stepping out between 12 PM and 4 PM. They also urged people to stay hydrated and wear light clothing.
Weather officials said Rayalaseema and coastal districts may face higher temperatures in the next 24 hours. Districts such as Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Manyam, Alluri, Polavaram, and Eluru may see severe heatwave conditions in several mandals.
The heatwave is affecting daily life across both states. Streets remain relatively empty during peak hours. Moreover, people are limiting travel to essential needs. Health experts warned that prolonged exposure can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke.
Authorities advised people to drink fluids regularly and avoid direct sunlight. They also asked residents to use protective gear like caps or umbrellas. In addition, they urged families to check on elderly persons and children.
Officials stressed that following safety measures is crucial as temperatures continue to rise. They advised seeking immediate medical help if heatstroke symptoms appear.
