Hyderabad, April 29: A brutal murder shocked residents of Meerpet on Wednesday after a man allegedly killed his wife over suspicion. Police said the accused beheaded his wife at their home near BN Reddy Nagar.
The accused was identified as Narasimha, 60. The victim was Vasantha, 52.
According to police, the attack took place in the early hours of Wednesday under Meerpet police station limits.
Police Launch Hunt for Accused Husband
Investigators said Narasimha allegedly attacked Vasantha with a knife during a domestic dispute. He then severed her head, police added.
The couple belonged to Shivannagudem village in Nalgonda district. They had been living in Meerpet for livelihood.
Soon after the incident, locals noticed the crime and alerted police. Officers rushed to the spot and secured the area.
Police shifted the body for postmortem examination. They also collected evidence from the house.
Authorities registered a murder case and began a detailed investigation. Meanwhile, teams launched a search operation to trace Narasimha, who remains absconding.
Officials said they are examining all angles, including long standing family disputes and suspicion related issues.
The shocking crime created panic among local residents. Neighbours gathered near the house as news of the incident spread.
Police urged the public not to believe rumours and said only verified facts would be shared during the investigation.
