Unlicensed drug manufacturing poses severe public health risks as these drugs do not comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). GMP regulations ensure drugs are safe for patient use by stipulating minimum requirements for manufacturing, processing, and packaging. Unlicensed entities lack formal controls to prevent contamination, mix-ups, deviations, failures, and errors, thus compromising drug quality and safety.
The raid was carried out by DCA officials Anjum Abida (Assistant Director, Shameerpet), B. Praveen (Drugs Inspector, Shameerpet), Dr. B. Lakshmi Narayana (Drugs Inspector, Uppal), and P. Ambedkar (Drugs Inspector, Medipally). From the Prohibition and Excise Department, officers included Bharat Bhushan (Excise Inspector), Naveen (Excise Sub-Inspector), and their staff.
