Hyderabad, July 30 (Maxim News): The Tappachabutra Police have arrested three persons for allegedly attempting to murder a woman following a family property dispute in Daibagh, Hyderabad.
The accused allegedly attacked the victim with a butcher knife and later chased her before inflicting multiple stab injuries.
Police registered the case under Crime No. 145/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, 1959. The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammed Dastagir Shareef alias Pappu (32), Md Gulam Nabi Qureshi (44), and Mohd Osman alias Addu (25).
According to police, the prime accused, Mohammed Dastagir Shareef, allegedly conspired to kill his sister-in-law, Shameem Begum alias Shameem Sulthana, over an ongoing family property dispute and domestic issues. He allegedly enlisted the help of the two co-accused to carry out the attack.
Police said the three accused reached the victim’s residence near Samosa Galli, Daibagh, on July 27 using a Honda Activa scooter. One of the accused allegedly carried a butcher knife.
Investigators said two of the accused forcibly entered the house, where Gulam Nabi Qureshi allegedly attacked the victim on her neck with the knife. When the victim’s husband, Mohd Azam Shareef, tried to intervene, the accused allegedly assaulted and restrained him.
The victim managed to escape into a neighbouring building seeking help. However, the accused allegedly chased her, broke open the gate, dragged her from the staircase, and the prime accused stabbed her in the abdomen. The attackers fled after local residents gathered at the scene.
During the investigation, police recovered the Honda Activa scooter, the butcher knife used in the offence, and other material evidence based on the disclosure made by the prime accused.
The accused were arrested on July 30 and later produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
The case was detected under the supervision of ACP V. Tirupathi of Kulsumpura Division and led by Inspector G. Balakrishna, Detective Inspector D. Venkateshwarlu, SI L. Raju, and the Tappachabutra Police team.
Senior police officers appreciated the team for their swift investigation, timely arrest of the accused, and efforts in saving the victim’s life. (Maxim News)
