He visited the locality and studied the complaints raised by residents. He asked officials about the reasons behind the overflow of sewage water into homes and borewells.

He also looked into the contamination of drinking water as sewage mixed with nearby drains.

Moreover, he examined the flow pattern during rain when stormwater and sewage flood the lanes.

Residents told the Commissioner that water from Himayat Nagar reaches their colony and floods their homes each monsoon.

They said they have suffered for three decades. The Commissioner promised full work from the basti to the Hussainsagar nala. His assurance brought relief to the locals.

Commissioner Orders Immediate Repair Work

Ranganath directed officials to start the work at once. He asked them to study the path of sewage and stormwater before taking up repairs.

Water Board officials told him that six meters of pipeline had been damaged. They said the issue will reduce if they replace those pipes.

He asked them to assess the inflow from upstream and install larger pipelines if needed. This, he said, will help meet future demand as the number of houses grows.

He noted that the monsoon has ended and asked them to begin the work without delay. He also reviewed the Hussainsagar retaining wall, which suffered damage along thirty five meters. He instructed officials to complete this section soon.

DFO Yajnanarayana, Water Board DGM Krishnaiah, GHMC DE Praveen Kumar, SF officials Dattu and Srinivas, and several other officers joined the inspection.

The team recorded all issues raised by the public. They will prepare a plan to fix the drainage network in phases. Ranganath said the city needs strong civic systems to prevent repeated flooding. He added that timely repairs can protect homes and public health.

The local residents and the local public representatives have felicitated Ranganathan and other officials. (Maxim News)
