New Delhi, August 20: India will host the fifth Coast Guard Global Summit in New Delhi in February 2027.
The summit will coincide with the Swarnim Jayanti of the Bharatiya Tatrakshak. The Indian Coast Guard hosted a working level meeting ahead of the event.
The meeting took place in hybrid mode and focused on preparations for the global summit. Maritime agencies discussed key institutional and organisational matters.
Officials reviewed the proposed CGGS Meeting Guidelines during the discussions. They also examined ways to improve information sharing among participating agencies.
Coast Guard summit to strengthen maritime cooperation
The meeting also discussed further development of the CGGS website. Participants explored ways to strengthen cooperation through professional expertise and operational experience.
They also considered greater sharing of maritime best practices. This approach aims to improve collective capabilities among participating maritime agencies.
Meanwhile, officials reviewed an activity calendar for future joint engagements. The calendar seeks to maintain regular cooperation among participating agencies.
The working level meeting also provided a platform for dialogue and coordination. Such engagements can support stronger partnerships between maritime agencies.
The fifth CGGS will also highlight India’s MAHASAGAR vision for the maritime sector. The summit will focus on a collaborative and inclusive maritime order.
Through the summit and related engagements, the Indian Coast Guard aims to strengthen international cooperation. It also seeks to contribute to global efforts for maritime safety and security.
The preparations will continue ahead of the February 2027 summit in New Delhi.
