India To Host Global AI Summit 2026: PM Modi

Delhi/Hyderabad, Nov 3 (Maxim News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that India will host the Global AI Summit in February 2026, setting the stage for a major international dialogue on building ethical and human-centric artificial intelligence frameworks. Speaking at the Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) 2025 held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, PM Modi said that the forthcoming AI Governance Framework will focus on promoting innovation alongside safety, making India a key force in shaping responsible AI for the world.

The Prime Minister emphasised the transformative power of science and technology and said that innovations should always remain ethical, inclusive, and beneficial to humanity. Using Artificial Intelligence as an example, he noted its wide-ranging impact — from logistics and retail to education, customer service, and even children’s homework. PM Modi stated that India’s vision is to make AI serve every segment of society while protecting human values.

Highlighting efforts under the India AI Mission, he revealed that an investment of over Rs 10,000 crore is being made to strengthen AI-driven research, innovation ecosystems, and application development. He said that India’s goal is to channel science and technology toward achieving the vision of a developed, self-reliant nation. “We are shaping a global framework for ethical and human-centric artificial intelligence,” Modi said, reinforcing India’s growing leadership in digital and technological innovation.

PM Modi also raised vital questions for the global scientific community, urging innovation in areas beyond AI. He asked whether India could develop next-generation biofortified crops to fight global malnutrition, or create low-cost bio-fertilisers to improve soil health. He also spoke of the need for mapping India’s genomic diversity to advance personalised medicine, and encouraged exploration of cost-effective energy storage solutions like advanced batteries.

He stressed the importance of reducing India’s dependence on global supply chains by achieving self-reliance in critical scientific inputs. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s full support for innovators and scientists, saying that research, funding, and opportunities will be made accessible. Concluding his address, Modi expressed confidence that the ideas generated at the Conclave would define India’s innovation roadmap and elevate the country’s technological journey to new heights.
