IndiGo Flights Cancelled Nationwide As Disruption Continues

Hyderabad: The IndiGo flights cancellation crisis continued across several airports on Saturday and caused widespread disruption for passengers. The input states that the company is still cancelling flights at multiple locations. Three flights from Mumbai to Kolkata, Nagpur and Bhopal were cancelled. Meanwhile, IndiGo also cancelled two flights from Srinagar to Amritsar. The disruption extended to Trichy, where five arrivals and six domestic departures were cancelled.
The cancellations further affected Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi airports. According to the input, Bengaluru saw the largest impact, with 150 flights cancelled, including 76 arrivals and 74 departures. The disruption was also heavy in Hyderabad, where more than 100 flights were cancelled. These repeated cancellations forced passengers to wait for long hours and look for other travel options.
Railways stepped in to help passengers caught in the crisis. A special help desk was set up at Mumbai airport to support travellers with alternative arrangements and ticket bookings. The move aimed to reduce confusion and offer some relief as the flight cancellations continued through the day. The response became essential as more airports reported operational difficulties linked to the IndiGo crisis.
IndiGo estimated that it would operate around 1,500 flights on Saturday. However, the input notes that the airline’s parent company, InterGlobe Aviation, formed a special team to prevent the crisis from growing. On the regulatory side, the DGCA took the matter seriously. The input states that show cause notices were issued to the CEO and COO. It also mentions that the company stated CEO Peter Elbers has failed in the performance of his duties and that the company faced issues in planning.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that the parliamentary committee on transport and tourism may also issue summons to IndiGo and other airlines.
