Hyderabad: Demand for induction stoves in Hyderabad has risen sharply as the Middle East crisis continues. Many households are shifting from traditional gas stoves to electric induction cooktops. As a result, retailers and online platforms are struggling to keep up with the sudden surge in demand.

Major urban centres, including Hyderabad, are witnessing this change in cooking habits. The familiar blue flame of gas stoves in many kitchens is slowly being replaced by the quiet operation of induction stoves. Therefore, many consumers are now looking for electric alternatives as a backup for cooking.

Meanwhile, physical electronic retail outlets in areas such as Secunderabad and Abids are witnessing a rush of customers. Many people are visiting shops to buy induction cookers. However, availability remains limited. Most electronic retailers usually do not maintain large stocks of these appliances. For years, the traditional gas stove remained the primary choice for most Indian households.

Consumers say the current situation has increased the need for alternatives. “Induction stoves are out of stock in most quick commerce platforms. At present, I have a backup gas cylinder, and I am not facing any shortage. However, there is a definite need for back-up,” says B Bharathi, a housewife from Dammaiguda.

Online platforms are also seeing a strong rise in demand across the country. According to multiple reports, major e commerce platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart have recorded a significant spike in orders. Therefore, manufacturers are increasing production to meet the growing demand.

Major appliance makers such as TTK Prestige and Stovekraft (Pigeon) are reportedly operating close to their maximum production capacity. At the same time, prices have already started to increase. Some induction stove models are now selling for Rs 100 to Rs 300 more than their price just seven days ago.

Residents say the sudden demand reminds them of the early days of the Covid 19 pandemic. During that period, essential items such as masks and sanitizers suddenly saw a surge in demand.

A local resident described the situation in similar terms. “Just like Covid pandemic, when suddenly everyone needed masks and sanitizers, it feels like we are in an indication cooktop era. From shops to online stores, everyone is suddenly hunting for induction stoves like it’s the new survival kit,” said Arvind Kumar, a resident of Sindhi Colony in Secunderabad.

The rising demand for induction stoves in Hyderabad reflects the growing concern among households about cooking fuel availability during the ongoing Middle East crisis.
