Hyderabad: The ISIS online module case in Uttar Pradesh has led to the arrest of a 19 year old dental student, identified as Harish Ali. Security forces intensified action as part of a wider crackdown on individuals linked to terror groups and their supporters.

The Anti Terrorism Squad in Uttar Pradesh carried out the arrest after tracking activities linked to the banned group Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Officials said intelligence inputs helped identify the accused, who is a resident of Saharanpur district. He was arrested on Sunday.

ISIS Online Module and ATS Investigation

Officials stated that agencies are closely monitoring the activities of ISIS affiliate networks in India. During this process, intelligence teams found that Harish Ali was in contact with ISIS handlers and supporters through social media platforms.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was a second year Bachelor of Dental Surgery student. Authorities found that he was actively involved in creating multiple groups using virtual private networks. These groups were allegedly used to recruit individuals with extremist ideologies.

Recruitment Activities and Ongoing Probe

Officials also said that the accused was running a special group as part of the ISIS online module network. Through these channels, he reportedly maintained contact with ISIS operatives based abroad as well as within India.

Meanwhile, authorities have registered a case against him under various sections. The probe is ongoing as officials continue to examine the extent of his network and activities. Therefore, security agencies remain on alert and are expanding their investigation to identify others involved.

The development comes as part of a broader effort by law enforcement agencies to track and act against online radicalisation and terror related activities. The focus remains on preventing recruitment and disrupting digital propaganda networks linked to banned organisations.
