Jubilee Hills By Poll: Congress Leads After Two Rounds
Hyderabad: Counting for the Jubilee Hills by-election has completed two rounds, with the Congress candidate securing 18,617 votes, followed by the BRS candidate with 17,473 votes. The BJP candidate has polled 307 votes so far. The Congress continues to hold a clear early lead.
The counting process is being carried out under strict security at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium in Yousufguda, where 58 candidates are contesting in this closely watched by-election.
The counting began with postal ballots, for which officials arranged pigeon boxes marked with party symbols.
Subsequently, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) stored in strongrooms are being shifted to the counting tables in the presence of the General Election Observer from the Election Commission of India and authorised party agents. A total of 42 tables have been set up, and the counting will take place in 10 rounds.
“Each round takes around 30 to 45 minutes,” a poll duty official told Telangana Today. Counting started with the Shaikpet division and will conclude with the Erragadda division, he added.
Candidates Seek Blessings Before Results
Ahead of the counting, candidates visited temples to offer prayers.
BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha and her family performed a special pooja at Sri Subramanya Swamy Temple in Madhapur.
Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav, accompanied by his wife, visited the Sri Balkampet Renuka Yellamma Temple and the Sri Peddamma Temple in Jubilee Hills.
Arrangements and Monitoring
GHMC Commissioner and District Election Officer R. V. Karnan has deployed 186 counting personnel, while Jubilee Hills Returning Officer P. Sairam is supervising the process to ensure accuracy and transparency.
A large number of party supporters and leaders have gathered outside the stadium, awaiting updates. To facilitate seamless information flow, LED screens have been installed inside the venue to display round-wise results in real time.
