Hyderabad, Oct 22: A total of 211 candidates filed 321 nomination papers to contest the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election. Marking a record-heavy response by the close of the filing window.

On the last day alone, 117 candidates submitted 194 nomination papers, signaling intense interest and a crowded field for the November poll.

Election authorities confirmed that scrutiny of all received papers will be conducted today at the Returning Officer’s office.

Officials noted that the large influx on the final day followed a steady build-up through the filing period.

Therefore, teams prepared to manage verification and document checks in line with set guidelines.

The scrutiny will determine how many nominations are valid for the ballot. Then, the list will be updated as per the next steps in the schedule.

Candidates who wish to withdraw will have time until October 24.

This window allows contenders to reassess after scrutiny outcomes and resolve any paperwork issues with the election office.

Meanwhile, the Returning Officer’s staff will process objections and clarifications raised during verification. Also, the office will notify candidates of decisions taken during scrutiny as required.
