In the ongoing Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, election authorities have filed cases against several MLAs and MLCs for violating the election code of conduct. Election Officer RV Karnan stated that unauthorized gatherings by non-local public representatives at polling stations and attempts to influence the election process have triggered these actions. Karnan clarified that it is a violation for non-local political figures to act without authorization near polling booths during voting. Meanwhile, tensions surfaced as BRS Party candidate Maganti Sunitha accused Corporator Baba Fasiuddin of attacking party workers. Sunitha claimed the police are not addressing these incidents adequately, adding that ensuring smooth elections is the police’s responsibility.

The by-election sees 4,01,365 registered voters casting ballots across 407 polling stations in 139 areas. A total of 58 candidates contest the seat, with major contenders including Naveen Yadav from Congress, Sunitha from BRS, and Lankala Deepak Reddy from BJP. By 11 am, 20.76 percent of voting had been recorded.

Security for the by-election is tight, with 5,000 personnel deployed, including 1,761 police officers and 800 central forces. For the first time in this election, drones are employed to monitor polling activities. Additionally, Section 144 has been enforced near polling stations to prevent disturbances and preserve order.

These steps aim to provide a fair and peaceful voting environment amid heightened political competition and concerns over electoral conduct.
