June 26 School Holiday For Muharram In AP, Telangana

Hyderabad: Schools and several government offices in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will remain closed on June 26 on account of Muharram, giving students and employees a one day break soon after the reopening of schools for the new academic year.

The holiday falls just days after schools in both Telugu states resumed classes following the summer vacation. With schools functioning on June 25 and the Muharram holiday falling on June 26, many students will have a shorter academic week before regular schedules resume.

The Andhra Pradesh government has officially revised the Muharram holiday schedule and shifted the general holiday from June 25 to June 26, in line with the expected observance of 10th Muharram Ashura. The state has also declared June 25 as an optional holiday for 9th Muharram.

Muharram is one of the most important observances in the Islamic calendar and is marked in many parts of the country. The date of the holiday is determined based on the lunar calendar, which can lead to changes in the official schedule depending on the sighting of the moon.

Even though physical branches and offices may remain closed on June 26, essential services and many private establishments are expected to function based on their internal holiday policies. Students and parents have been advised to check with their respective schools for any local schedule changes or special instructions related to the holiday.
