Hyderabad, may 5: Kakatiya temple demolition has triggered concern in Warangal after authorities razed a historic structure linked to the Kakatiya era. The incident occurred near Ashoknagar in Khanapur mandal, raising serious questions about heritage protection.
According to local reports, the stone temple stood within the premises of a government built integrated school. Moreover, the structure fell under the jurisdiction of the State Archaeological Department. However, officials reportedly demolished it using heavy machinery without required approvals.

Meanwhile, villagers alleged that the demolition took place without permission from both the archaeology and endowment departments. Therefore, concerns have grown over possible violations of heritage conservation rules.
In addition, locals claimed that the contractor carried out the demolition with alleged support from Donthi Madhav Reddy. However, authorities have not yet issued an official clarification on these claims.
Furthermore, residents expressed anger over the loss of a structure believed to have historical value. They said such monuments reflect the legacy of the Kakatiya era and must be preserved.
As a result, calls have grown for a detailed inquiry into the incident. Heritage activists also demanded accountability from officials responsible for the site.
