Hyderabad, Sept. 9: Telangana Police have suspended constable K. Anil after he allegedly posted obscene and inappropriate content targeting former MP and TRS president Kalvakuntla Kavitha.
Police took action after receiving a complaint about the social media posts. Senior officials ordered Anil’s immediate suspension under the Civil Services Conduct Rules.
The department said it will not ignore conduct that violates the dignity of women. It also stressed that police personnel must uphold the law and maintain proper conduct.
Officials said the Hyderabad Police Commissioner submitted a preliminary inquiry report. Based on that report, the department will conduct an internal inquiry against the constable.
The police department said it will impose strict punishment if the departmental inquiry establishes violations. The action will proceed according to applicable service rules.
Kavitha posts trigger criminal case
Along with departmental action, police have also registered a criminal case against Anil. The case was registered at the Hyderabad Cyber Crimes Police Station.
According to the supplied information, police booked the constable under Sections 75 and 79 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
Police registered the case under Crime No. 589/2026. The case relates to the alleged obscene and inappropriate posts made against Kavitha on social media.
The preliminary investigation also examined the device used to publish the posts. Police found that the accused allegedly used his personal mobile phone for the posts.
Following the finding, police seized the mobile phone. They then sent the device to the Forensic Science Laboratory for examination.
The forensic test is expected to help investigators examine the device and related digital evidence. Meanwhile, the departmental inquiry will proceed separately from the criminal investigation.
Telangana Police issue warning
The Telangana Police Department has reiterated its position against indecent conduct targeting women. Officials said such behaviour will face strict action under the law.
The department also made clear that police personnel will face action when they violate conduct rules. The suspension of Anil forms part of the immediate departmental response.
Further action will depend on the findings of the departmental inquiry and the ongoing legal process. Police said they will take additional steps under the relevant legal provisions.
The case has therefore led to both departmental disciplinary proceedings and a criminal investigation. The police department said it will continue to act against conduct that undermines the dignity of women.
The action also underlines the department’s stated position that its personnel must follow professional standards while using social media. Officials said violations will not be ignored.
