KCR Gave Nod To Amit Shah For Change In Hyderabad’s Name: Congress

Hyderabad, November 14: The Congress party has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashkehar Rao has reportedly given his nod for changing the name of Hyderabad and other cities named after Muslims.

“We have reliable information that CM KCR is in receipt of some secret communication from BJP President Amit Shah asking him to change names of some of the cities/districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad. KCR has reportedly agreed to do so if TRS wins the next elections,” alleged Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Minorities Dept Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail on Wednesday. He also challenged TRS to deny the fact of communication between KCR and BJP leaders in Delhi over change in names of cities.

Sohail said that KCR apparently wants to join the BJP’s drive of changing names of cities, districts and places before Lok Sabha elections to create a false impression of ‘badlav’ (change) to divert people’s attention. “KCR has displayed his inclination towards BJP and Sangh Parivar’s ideology multiple times. He has also displayed his hatred towards Muslims on many occasions although he calls himself a secular leader. But we will not allow anyone to change the name of Hyderabad or any other city in Telangana, come what may,” he said.

The Congress leader said that KCR’s communal mindset could be understood from the names of 21 newly created districts of Telangana. “Though we did not object to naming of any new district, but we will not allow any change in the names of old historic places, districts and cities,” he said.

Sohail said since KCR would formally join the BJP-front after Assembly elections, he feared that names of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Karimnagar, Adilabad, Mahabubnagar, Asifabad and a few other cities and places might be changed. “Congress party is all set to come to power in next elections and KCR’s dream of changing the name of Hyderabad will remain a dream forever,” he said.
