Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 14 (Maxim News): The Union Home Ministry has issued a key notification on the ‘Census-2027’ to be conducted across the country. The central government has prepared the ground for conducting a comprehensive caste census for the first time after independence. The Registrar General of India has notified a list of 40 questions to be asked of citizens in the census. A special opportunity has been provided to record details related to SC, ST and caste as the 10th question in the census questionnaire.
For the first time in the country, the census will be conducted through apps and digital tools. The opportunity to register details yourself will be provided for 15 days. Census-2027 will be conducted in two phases at an estimated cost of Rs. 11,718.24 crore. In the first phase, the collection of details related to housing registration and facilities will be carried out between April and September 2026.
In the second phase, the process of collecting data related to population, education, employment and caste will be completed in February 2027. Legal protection has been provided to the personal details provided by citizens in the census. According to Section 15 of the Census Act, 1948, there is complete legal protection for the personal information of citizens.(Maxim News)
