Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee (DCC) President Syed Khalid Saifullah on Friday led celebrations marking the birthday of senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi by participating in a series of service-oriented and public welfare programmes across the city.
As part of the celebrations, Khalid Saifullah visited the Urban Community Health Centre (UCHC) at Jangammet in Falaknuma, where he distributed fruits among patients and interacted with attendants. He conveyed birthday greetings to Rahul Gandhi and said the Congress leader’s commitment to democratic values, social justice and the welfare of marginalised sections continued to inspire party workers across the country.
Later, Khalid Saifullah participated in a program chaired by Panchayat Raj, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dansari Anasuya Seethakka during the inauguration of a Model Anganwadi-cum-Crèche Centre at Arundhati Nagar in Chandrayangutta constituency. The centre was inaugurated by the minister along with Principal Secretary Anita Ramachandran under the “SBIF Muskaan – Providing Early Childhood Care Through Model Anganwadi-cum-Crèches” project being implemented with the support of SBI Foundation and Mobile Crèches.
During the visit, the minister inspected educational sections, nutrition facilities, health monitoring units, rest areas, play spaces and learning resources established at the centre. She also reviewed activities being conducted by crèche staff and learning demonstrations by children.

Addressing the gathering, Seethakka said the centres would greatly benefit urban and working-class families, particularly women employed in the unorganised sector. She noted that many women were forced to miss employment opportunities due to childcare responsibilities and said the crèche facilities would provide safe, quality and accessible childcare services.
The minister said children aged between seven months and three years could be enrolled in the centres and would subsequently continue receiving developmental support through the Anganwadi system. She emphasised that the first 1,000 days of a child’s life were crucial for physical, mental and intellectual development and required adequate nutrition, healthcare and learning support.
Seethakka urged families to utilise the services available at Anganwadi and childcare centres and ensure that all eligible children were enrolled. She also stated that the State Government had extended nearly Rs.61,000 crore in interest-free loans to women’s self-help groups and encouraged women to use these opportunities for entrepreneurship and income generation.
Officials informed the minister that five Anganwadi-cum-Crèche centres were being established in Hyderabad district under Mission Shakti with the support of Mobile Crèches and SBI Foundation. The centres are located at Balkampet-2, Arogyanagar, Chilakalaguda, ACS Nagar and Arundhati Nagar-2. The project will be implemented on a pilot basis for two years with support from CSR funds as well as Central and State Government resources.
Speaking on the occasion, Khalid Saifullah extended warm birthday wishes to Rahul Gandhi and said his vision for inclusive development, constitutional values and social justice had strengthened the confidence of millions of people, especially youth, women and disadvantaged communities. He said Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to safeguarding democratic institutions and raising public issues had made him one of the most respected leaders in the country. (Maxim News)
