KTR launches five projects worth Rs.1,100 crore at Genome Valley

Hyderabad, Oct.18 (NSS): Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao on Tuesday participated in the inauguration and foundation stone events of five new projects worth of Rs 1,100 crore which have potential to create employment to 3,000 people at the Life Sciences Cluster Genome Valley on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

The programme also includes the State’s flagship initiative, Bio-Pharma Hub, which aims at catalysing the Bio-Pharma sector.

As part of five projects, KTR launched the development of 9 Lakh sq. ft. of curated Life Sciences infrastructure by Rx Propellant in Genome Valley. Rx Propellant and its associates will invest ₹900 crores to ensure state-of-the-art facilities in Genome Valley.

He inaugurated Yapan Bio’s Process Development facility as well as GV Research Platform’s (GVRP) state-of-the-art facility that offers a suite of preclinical research services. The 28,000 Sq.ft. facility will have professionals spread across Veterinary Science, Toxicology, Pharmacology and Analytical Research domains.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister KT Rama Rao said the demand for space at Genome Valley was on the rise. “We have a good problem on hand. We are running out of space at the cluster,” he said adding that various developments and expansions happening now will add about 20 lakh sqft space in the next years or so.

He stated that about 30 lakh sqft is currently used by over 200 biotechnology, life sciences and pharmaceutical companies in the Genome Valley which has more plug-and-play facilities than all the clusters put together and many contract research organisations are seeing huge growth opportunities.

Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary Industries & Commerce Dept., Shakthi Nagappan, Director Life Sciences & Pharma, and other government officials and representatives of respective companies were present on the occasion. (NSS)
