Kulsumpura Police Secure Seven Day Jail Term for Auto Battery Theft Attempt

Hyderabad, July 13 (Maxim News): Kulsumpura Police secured a seven day imprisonment for a man caught attempting to steal an auto battery, following swift action by the night patrolling team and prompt prosecution under the City Police Act.

The conviction was delivered on July 13, 2026, by the IV Special Judicial Magistrate at the Manoranjan Complex, Gandhi Bhavan, Nampally, in an E-petty case registered by Kulsumpura Police Station under the Golkonda Zone of Hyderabad City Police.

The accused, M. Ganesh, 30, a resident of Jiyaguda, Hyderabad, was convicted in E-Petty Case No. 480/2026 and STC No. 3868/2026 under Section 61(b) of the City Police Act. The court sentenced him to seven days of simple imprisonment, without imposing any fine.

According to police, the accused was found moving under suspicious circumstances on the 100 Feet Road within the limits of Kulsumpura Police Station during night patrolling. Police personnel noticed him allegedly attempting to steal the battery of an auto rickshaw.

The night patrol team immediately intercepted and apprehended the accused before he could execute the theft. He was subsequently produced before the morning court, where legal proceedings were initiated under the E-petty case provisions.

The case was investigated by Inspector of Police A. Ramulu, Station House Officer of Kulsumpura Police Station. Police Constable K. Naresh (PC 4554) represented the case before the morning court.

The judgment was delivered by M. Bhasker (In-Charge), Hon’ble IV Special Judicial Magistrate, Manoranjan Complex, Nampally.

Police officials said the successful conviction highlights the effectiveness of Hyderabad City Police’s CDO Functional Vertical in ensuring speedy prosecution of petty offences. The coordinated efforts of the night patrolling staff, investigating officer and prosecution team resulted in the timely conviction of the offender.
