Lok Sabha Election Crackdown: Rs. 13.3 Cr Cash Seized In Hyderabad

Hyderabad, April 12 (Maxim News): In a significant crackdown on illicit activities ahead of the Parliament Elections, District Election Officer and GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose announced a staggering cash seizure amounting to Rs. 13,33,19,960/- in the district.

Alongside this hefty sum, authorities have also confiscated 19,902.7 liters of illegal liquor and other contraband valued at Rs. 87,98,039 crore. Notably, 153 individuals have been implicated in these cases, with 148 already apprehended.

Over the past 24 hours, enforcement efforts remained relentless, with Rs. 1,40,900/- in cash and goods worth Rs. 66,603/- seized. Furthermore, the Excise Department has reported the confiscation of 29.98 liters of illegal liquor, leading to the arrest of four individuals after cases were filed against three.

Efforts to maintain the integrity of the electoral process have resulted in the resolution of 312 complaints related to election-related cash and goods, with FIRs lodged against 205 individuals. Additionally, a total of 2,541 licensed firearms have been voluntarily deposited.

Since the initiation of the election schedule, collaborative efforts from flying squad teams, the police, and the IT Department have resulted in the seizure of Rs. 2,89,76,740/-, Rs. 10,27,63,530/-, and Rs. 15,79,690/- respectively. These concerted actions underscore the commitment to ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process.” (Maxim News)
