Mumbai, June 27: The Maharashtra government has postponed the Teacher Eligibility Test (Maha TET 2026) scheduled for Sunday after the question paper was allegedly leaked a day before the examination.
The alleged paper leak surfaced in Bhiwandi near Mumbai on Saturday, prompting immediate action by the police and the State Education Department.
According to officials, police seized the leaked question paper after receiving information about the incident. A preliminary inquiry reportedly confirmed the leak, leading authorities to postpone the examination.
The Maharashtra Education Department said a fresh examination date will be announced soon. It also confirmed that an investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the leak.
The postponement has affected lakhs of candidates across the state who were preparing to appear for the examination. Many aspirants expressed disappointment, saying they had completed their preparations and now face uncertainty over the revised schedule.
The Maha TET was scheduled to be conducted in two sessions on Sunday. Paper I was to be held from 10.30 am, while Paper II was scheduled from 2.30 pm to 5 pm.
The examination was planned in pen and paper mode with 150 questions in each paper and no negative marking. It was to be conducted in Marathi, English, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati, Sindhi, Bengali and Kannada.
