Internet/Hyderabad, June 10 (Maxim News): The Congress party has suffered a major setback in Madhya Pradesh. The rejection of the nomination of its Rajya Sabha candidate Meenakshi Natarajan has paved the way for the BJP’s victory. The BJP, which has given a chance to Mahesh Kewat as the third candidate in the state, is almost certain to win unanimously and sweep all three Rajya Sabha seats. The party has enough support in the assembly to finalize the election of two other candidates, Tarun Chugh and Rajnish Agarwal. With this, the ruling party will win the state’s Rajya Sabha elections completely.
In this context, if we look at the political background of Mahesh Kewat, he is a senior BJP leader. He has a long association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as well as the BJP organizational network. Kewat, who has been associated with the RSS since childhood, has held various positions in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the BJP youth wing. Apart from being a district minister, he has also served in various capacities in the Sangh Parivar. In addition, he has also served as the chairman of the State Fishermen’s Welfare Board. Referring to Kewat’s social background, the state’s CM Mohan Yadav said that his nomination is evidence of the continuation of the legacy of Nishad Raj, a revered figure in Hindu mythology.
Why was Meenakshi’s nomination rejected?
The BJP has alleged that Natarajan’s nomination papers contain several errors and that she has concealed certain details. One of the key objections raised by the party was that the pending case against her in a court in Telangana was not disclosed. Her nomination was rejected after the election officials accepted the objections during the scrutiny process. This has reportedly almost ended the Congress’s challenge in the Rajya Sabha contest.
