Man Commits Suicide Over Money Lender Harassment In Vanasthalipuram

Hyderabad: A young man died by suicide in Vanasthalipuram after facing alleged harassment from money lenders. The victim, identified as Srikant from Saheb Nagar, recorded an emotional selfie video before taking the extreme step. The incident created tension in the area as the details emerged on Thursday.

According to available information, Srikant had borrowed nearly Rs 2 lakh from four persons in Hayathnagar. His marriage was recently fixed. However, he reportedly faced pressure and threats from the lenders. They allegedly warned him that they would lock his house and stop his marriage if he failed to repay the money. This created severe stress for him. Therefore, he could not cope with the constant pressure.

Meanwhile, Srikant consumed an unknown pesticide. He also recorded a video asking his family to take care. The video showed his distress and fear. Later, he collapsed due to the poisonous substance. The incident shocked his family and neighbours. They alerted the police soon after discovering what happened.

The Vanasthalipuram police registered a case and began an investigation into the alleged harassment. Officers shifted the body for autopsy to complete further formalities. The police will also examine the selfie video as part of the probe. They will then question the four lenders named in the case. The inquiry will help them understand the sequence of events and the pressure that led Srikant to end his life.

Officials said they are looking into whether the lenders forced or threatened him. The investigation will also check if any illegal lending practices were involved. The police said the case will proceed based on evidence gathered during the inquiry. They added that more details will be known after examining the statements and material collected so far.
