The accused, identified as Farooq, lived with his wife Tahira, aged 35, and their two daughters Shareen, aged 14, and Afrin, aged 6. A week before the crime surfaced, a dispute broke out between the couple over money. After the argument, Tahira went to her maternal home. However, Farooq reportedly became angry, claiming that his wife had defamed him by leaving without wearing a burqa.

He then dug a pit inside the house and buried all three bodies there. Meanwhile, the family remained untraceable for several days, which raised concern among local residents.
When Tahira and her daughters did not appear for a week, villagers informed the village headman. He then approached the police and filed a complaint. Police officers registered a case and began questioning family members and neighbours. However, Tahira’s relatives told police that they had not approached them during this period.
Later, police questioned Farooq in detail. During interrogation, he confessed to killing his wife and children and burying them inside the house. He told police that his wife had gone out without wearing a burqa and had defamed him, which led to the murders. Following the confession, police arrested the accused.
Meanwhile, authorities exhumed the buried bodies of the mother and two daughters. They sent the bodies for postmortem examination to determine further details. Police also seized the gun used in the crime as part of the investigation. The case continues to be probed as officials gather more evidence related to the Shamli murder case. (Maxim News)
