Managements Of Private Degree Colleges Asked To Implement HC order On Fire Safety

Hyderabad, Feb.22 (Maxim News): Special Chief Secretary of Education Department Chitra Ramachandran said private degree colleges’ managements to cooperate in implementing court orders on compliance of NOC from Fire Services Department. She also made it clear that no college will be allowed to function in any building, which is not fire NOC compliant from the next academic year.

However, the representatives of college managements promised to follow the instructions of the Board and orders of High Court and also sought time for a few days till the examinations are over and the exams are to start in a few days from now.

Chitra Ramachandran convened a meeting of Private junior and Degree colleges’ Managements and their Association to discuss about non-producing Fire NOC by certain colleges and how to implement the WP, PIL No. 88/2019. Representative of Fire Services Department, Commissioner Collegiate Education, Secretary, Board of Intermediate Education, other officials and College Managements and management association members were present at the meeting held at Godavari Conference Hall, SCERT building.

The college managements were informed about the High Court orders and list of colleges, who have not produced the Fire NOC was also informed. It was the informed that these colleges have failed to produce the Fire NOC and instead submitted the affidavit that they will shift another building next year. But this has not happened and situation continued for the past few years without shifting to a proper building. Now, the High Court issued orders to take action against the defaulting colleges and to submit report by February 25.

The managements were asked to find out ways on how to implement the orders of Court Secretary, BIE, Syed Omer Jaleel explained that production of Fire NOC is a mandatory condition for grant of Affiliation to colleges. It is of particular importance in this light of Supreme Court guidelines in respect of fire safety. College managements cannot put the lives of children at risk.
