Chennai/Hyderabad, june 22 (Maxim News): There was massive destruction in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu. A tornado-like weather condition struck the villages of Vagaikulam and Mudivaitanendal. The tornado-like wind flow created havoc. It hit houses, a toll plaza and a private theme park near Thoothukudi airport. However, meteorologists have clarified that it is not a tornado but a powerful thunderstorm associated with a cumulonimbus cloud system.
It was stated that the cumulonimbus caused strong local winds, dust, and updrafts, which are intense upward air currents. However, due to this, about 200 houses were destroyed. Roofs, equipment, and other items were blown into the air. Due to the fierce winds, huge trees and electricity poles were uprooted. This caused extreme panic among the locals. They were confused and did not understand what was happening. Two people suffered minor injuries in this incident. However, there was no loss of life.
On the other hand, the authorities have temporarily suspended toll collection due to damage to computers and other equipment at the Vagaikulam toll plaza. Vehicles were allowed to pass even if they did not pay the toll. A private theme park located locally was also completely damaged. Local authorities estimate that the damage may have been around Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 6 crore due to this destruction. Meanwhile, videos related to this are circulating on the net. (Maxim News)
