MG Motor India Promoting Innovation in The Electric Vehicle Sector

Hyderabad: MG Motor India’s MG Developer Program and Grant Season 4.0 (MGDP 4.0) has announced that two Hyderabad-based startups have emerged winners with their brilliant ideas. One is Centaur Automotive and the other is Amplify Cleantech Solutions. With the theme ‘Electric Vehicles – Innovate for India’, the main objective of the event is to provide a better innovation platform for startups, developers, and innovators, thereby encouraging fresh new ideas.

While Centaur Automotive designs and manufactures electric bicycles, Amplify CleanTech Solutions operates electric vehicle charging stations across the country.

More than 250 teams expressed interest in MGDP 4.0, including students, innovators, explorers, seed companies, and tech companies, and 88 of them were accepted for consideration. Six of the 14 teams shortlisted for the virtual jury round held on May 18 and 25 emerged as winners. This includes two startups from Hyderabad and four from Bangalore, Gurgaon, and Mumbai.

Commenting on the occasion, Gaurav Gupta, Deputy Managing Director, MG Motor India said, “MG as a brand has always focused on green mobility with innovation as its cornerstone, and fostering knowledge transfer between participants and thinkers, bringing their ideas to life, and making India the home of innovation and technology MGDP 4.0 Targeted. As a brand, we encourage change and innovative thinking. It is commendable that over 30% of the participating teams this season have at least one female founder,” he said.

Astha Grover, Head, of Startup India said, “Such engagement programs provide the perfect platform for aspiring entrepreneurs and startups to showcase their innovation and learn new things in problem-solving. With an ever-increasing focus on sustainability and clean energy, electric vehicles will play a leading role in shaping the sector. Startups are at the forefront of solving environmental problems with cutting-edge technologies.”

MGDP 4.0 was launched in collaboration with several leading organizations to support the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. MG Motor has joined hands with major industry players like Invest India and Startup India and leading technology giants like Jio-BP, Exicom, Fortum, Attero, MapmyIndia, and Bosch to create a positive ecosystem and empower developers, investors, and businesses to thrive.

4 charging infrastructure startup companies, 2 EV OEM startup companies and 8 software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers participated in the event.
