Hyderabad, Sept. 6: Telangana Minister Mohammed Azharuddin questioned BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao’s prolonged absence from the Assembly.
Azharuddin said the Leader of Opposition must attend the House and raise people’s issues. He said constitutional responsibilities require commitment and accountability.
Speaking at a protest programme at Dharna Chowk, Azharuddin questioned KCR’s absence for nearly 1,000 days.
“If he cannot attend the House and discharge his duties, he should step down,” Azharuddin said.
Azharuddin Highlights Congress Welfare Measures
Azharuddin said the Leader of Opposition has an important role in a parliamentary democracy. He said the position requires participation in debates and scrutiny of the government.
He recalled that KCR regularly attended the Assembly while serving as Chief Minister. However, he said the Opposition must now remain present to represent public concerns.
Azharuddin said the Congress government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, was focused on development and welfare.
He highlighted the Telangana Rising vision, women’s empowerment, education and minority welfare. He said the government was also working to strengthen families and welfare delivery.
The minister said minority welfare remains a key priority. He highlighted education, social welfare and economic empowerment initiatives.
He also referred to ration cards and other welfare measures. According to Azharuddin, the government is addressing several pending issues and improving access to welfare schemes.
Referring to the Medina bus accident, Azharuddin praised Revanth Reddy’s response to the tragedy. He said the Chief Minister acted quickly and sanctioned ex gratia assistance for victims’ families.
Azharuddin said the government would continue focusing on development and social justice. He added that minorities, women, students, workers, farmers and weaker sections must benefit from Telangana’s progress.
