Kodangal, Sept. 6: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused the BJP led Union government of attempting to delete voters’ names during the ongoing SIR exercise.
Speaking at a Congress meeting in Kodangal Assembly constituency on Saturday, Revanth Reddy alleged that the BJP was targeting Congress supporters ahead of the next Telangana Assembly elections.
He claimed that similar tactics were used in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal. He also alleged that SC, ST and minority voters were being targeted during the exercise.
Revanth Reddy said Congress workers were prepared to counter any attempt to remove eligible voters from electoral rolls. He urged party leaders to remain alert throughout the process.
Revanth Reddy Asks Congress Workers to Protect Votes
The Chief Minister alleged that the BJP previously used central agencies such as the ED and CBI against political rivals. He claimed the party was now using voter deletion as another political tactic.
Revanth Reddy said minor errors should not become a reason to remove eligible voters. He also accused the BRS of supporting the BJP’s alleged efforts to weaken the Congress.
He said protecting voting rights was the responsibility of every Congress leader and worker. He asked Booth Level Agents to coordinate at the village level and prevent wrongful deletions.
Revanth Reddy directed mandal level leaders to monitor electoral rolls closely. He asked each Congress leader to take responsibility for four villages and ensure that eligible votes remain on every booth’s rolls.
He urged party workers to remain vigilant and counter what he described as attempts by the BJP and BRS to influence the electoral process.
Revanth Reddy also said Kodangal had gained national recognition because of the support extended by local people during his political journey and his role in leading the Telangana government.
