Internet, Sept. 6: Jharkhand Higher and Technical Education and Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu died of a heart attack in Ranchi on Sunday. He was 56.
Sonu fell ill on Saturday night and was rushed to a private hospital in Ranchi. He died at around 4 am while undergoing treatment.
Sonu, a senior leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, was first elected as an MLA from the Giridih Assembly constituency in 2019.
He later became a close aide of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and held several key portfolios in the state government.

Sonu handled Higher Education, Urban Development, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed shock over Sonu’s death. He remembered him as a trusted companion, guide and dedicated leader of the Jharkhand movement.
The JMM also mourned his death and described it as an irreparable loss for the party, government and Jharkhand.
Sonu is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
He had recently led a Jharkhand government delegation to Karnataka. During the visit, the delegation studied tourism infrastructure and held discussions with the Karnataka Tourism Minister.
